The Year 10 SMART program is the first stage of a selective three year enrichment program for students who show an interest and aptitude in Science, Mathematics and Related Technologies. It is designed for students who are prepared and keen to develop effective and responsible learning skills in preparation for Years 11 and 12, post-secondary studies and other post-school options.
- In the first year, students will be enrolled in the Year 10 SMART Program and work towards the completion of their Year 10 Certificate. During this year, students will follow the Year 10 Curriculum for subjects.
- Line allocations for subjects are: Science x 2, Mathematics x 1, English x 1, History x 0.5, Physical Education x 0.5, Projects x 1 and Pastoral Care x 0.5
Students will complete most classes together (with other Year 10 students).
In this year, students will have access to a Pastoral Care teacher and a Year 10 Coordinator.
- In the second and third years, students will be enrolled in Year 11 and 12 classes at Gungahlin College and work towards the completion of their Year 12 Certificate (and where applicable, tertiary entrance statement). During these two years, students will follow the BSSS Curriculum.
Students will complete their classes with other students in Years 11 and 12 who have selected the same courses as them.
In these two years, students will be allocated to a House where they will have a House Coordinator.
